Target Information

Rat ataxin-2-binding protein 1 (A2BP1, Rbfox1) is a 43 kDa RNA-recognition motif (RRM) protein whose central β-sheet clamps UGCAUG elements, steering neuronal splicing and mRNA stability. A solvent-exposed 17-aa "KVE" loop (aa 135-151) between RNP2 and β3 folds into a β-hairpin unique among rat RRM family members, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after paraformaldehyde fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native A2BP1 in hippocampal perikarya, cerebellar Purkinje cells, and skeletal-muscle nuclei, delivering crisp nuclear speckles and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to Rbfox2 or Rbfox3.
