Target Information

Rat angiostatin (ANG) is a secreted proteolytic fragment of plasminogen, a potent endogenous inhibitor of angiogenesis and endothelial cell proliferation. It features conserved kringle domains 1-4 with disulfide bond-stabilized tertiary structures, a heparin-binding region, and structural motifs critical for ligand interaction and biological activity. It localizes to rat plasma, extracellular matrices and tumor microenvironments, with negligible levels in healthy avascular tissues. The protein mediates endothelial cell migration suppression and angiogenesis inhibition, with conserved binding sites for integrins and matrix metalloproteinases. Rat ANG shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct anti-angiogenic potency differentiating it from endostatin and thrombospondin-1.
