Target Information

Porcine Resistin is a secreted cysteine-rich polypeptide hormone of the resistin-like molecule family, a key mediator of glucose homeostasis and lipid metabolism. It features conserved N-terminal signal peptide, cysteine residues for disulfide bond formation, and C-terminal structural domain critical for oligomerization and receptor interaction. It localizes to the extracellular fluids of porcine adipose tissue and macrophages, with negligible levels in non-metabolic tissues. The protein mediates insulin sensitivity modulation, with conserved motifs for binding to metabolic signaling receptors. Porcine Resistin shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue expression patterns differentiating it from RELMα and RELMβ.
