Target Information

Porcine lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) is a cytoplasmic metabolic enzyme encoded by the Ldha gene in Sus scrofa, mapped to chromosome 3. It belongs to the lactate dehydrogenase family, featuring a conserved catalytic domain, substrate-binding pocket and NADH-binding motif critical for enzymatic activity. It localizes primarily to cytoplasm, with ubiquitous expression in porcine tissues and high enrichment in skeletal muscle, heart and liver. The protein forms homotetrameric active complexes, with conserved motifs for substrate recognition and conformational stability. Porcine LDHA shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct catalytic efficiency differentiating it from LDHB and other glycolytic enzymes.
