Target Information
Porcine Aprotinin is a serine protease inhibitor derived from porcine tissues. It is a broad-spectrum inhibitor that targets various serine proteases, including trypsin, chymotrypsin, and plasmin, with high affinity (e.g., Ki = 0.06 pM for trypsin). Aprotinin also inhibits other proteases involved in coagulation and inflammation, such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and neutrophil elastase. It is used to reduce fibrinolysis and blood loss during surgical procedures.
