It forms heterodimers with ErbB family members (e.g., ErbB2) to activate downstream PI3K-AKT and MAPK signaling, regulating cell proliferation, survival, and differentiation. Critical for murine embryonic development, tissue homeostasis, and wound repair, its dysregulation drives oncogenic transformation, tumor progression, and metastasis in breast, lung, and ovarian cancer models.
