Mouse TLR1 is a single-pass transmembrane pattern recognition receptor with multiple conserved extracellular leucine-rich repeat domains and an intracellular signaling segment that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It presents on plasma membranes of macrophages, dendritic cells and other innate immune cell populations. Its membrane-located multi-repeat receptor structure and immune cell-specific distribution differentiate it from soluble secreted chemokines, cytoplasmic scaffolding adaptors and intranuclear transcriptional regulators with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
