Target Information
Mouse Succinate Dehydrogenase Complex Subunit C (SDHC) is an integral membrane protein that anchors Complex II within the inner mitochondrial membrane. It binds ubiquinone, enabling electron transfer from succinate to the respiratory chain while participating in the citric-acid cycle. SDHC is expressed in all aerobic tissues, coupling oxidative metabolism to ATP production. Mutations disrupt Complex II assembly, elevating succinate and promoting pseudohypoxic signaling. As an essential component of mitochondrial energy conversion, SDHC is a key target for studies of oxidative phosphorylation, cancer metabolism, and inherited mitochondrial disorders.
