Mouse serum amyloid P component (SAP) is a member of the pentraxin family of proteins. It is an acute-phase protein synthesized by the liver and released into the bloodstream in response to inflammation. SAP binds to various ligands, including microbial components and damaged tissues, and plays a role in the innate immune response by promoting phagocytosis and modulating inflammatory processes. It is also involved in the regulation of complement activation and the clearance of immune complexes.
