Specifications
Target Information
Mouse scavenger receptor class D member 1 (SCARD1), also termed ectodysplasin A receptor (EDAR), is a 448-residue type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the TNF receptor superfamily. Its extracellular region contains four cysteine-rich pseudorepeats that form an extended cradle for trimeric ectodysplasin A, while a cytoplasmic death domain recruits TRAF adaptors. Constitutively expressed in developing skin, hair follicles and thymic epithelium, SCARD1 localizes to plasma membrane lipid rafts and internalizes upon ligand binding. Antibodies raised against the fourth ectodomain or death-domain peptides detect native, glycosylated and truncated isoforms with negligible cross-reactivity to other TNFR members, enabling selective immunoblot and immunohistochemical detection in mouse embryonic and adult tissue homogenates.
