It presents on renal epithelial cell populations, with elevated abundance in proliferating kidney cell subsets. Its cell-surface localized structural features and kidney-tropic expression differentiate it from soluble circulating signaling factors, cytoplasmic transduction adaptors and intranuclear transcriptional regulators with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
