Target Information
Mouse regenerating islet-derived protein 1 alpha (Reg1α) is a 16-kDa secreted glycoprotein belonging to the Reg family, predominantly expressed in mouse pancreatic acinar cells, intestinal epithelium, and hepatocytes. It functions as a growth factor and anti-apoptotic mediator, regulating epithelial cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue repair-critical for maintaining mucosal barrier integrity in the gastrointestinal and pancreatic systems. It also modulates inflammatory responses and glucose metabolism, linking tissue homeostasis to metabolic regulation. Dysregulated expression associates with pancreatitis, intestinal inflammation, and pancreatic ductal carcinoma in mice. As a key mediator of epithelial repair and metabolic balance, mouse Reg1α is a critical target for studying digestive system biology, inflammatory pathologies, and cancer development.
