Target Information
Mouse Fc receptor for immunoglobulin E (FcεRI) is a 45-kDa multimeric transmembrane receptor predominantly expressed on mouse mast cells and basophils, with low-level expression on dendritic cells and eosinophils. Composed of an α-chain (ligand-binding), β-chain, and γ-chain homodimer (signaling), it binds IgE with high affinity. Cross-linking by IgE-antigen complexes triggers receptor aggregation, activating downstream signaling cascades that induce degranulation (releasing histamine, cytokines) and pro-inflammatory mediator secretion. This response mediates allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, and host defense against parasitic infections. Critical for murine type I hypersensitivity and immune surveillance, its dysregulation drives allergic disorders. As a central mediator of IgE-dependent immune responses, mouse FcεRI is a key target for studying allergy, immunology, and anti-allergic therapeutic development.
