Target Information

Mouse pyridoxamine-5'-phosphate oxidase (PNPO) is a flavin mononucleotide-dependent cytosolic enzyme, a core mediator of vitamin B6 metabolism. It features a conserved flavin-binding domain critical for catalytic activity, a central substrate-recognition motif for pyridoxamine-5'-phosphate binding, and a C-terminal structural domain for dimerization. It localizes predominantly to the cytoplasm of mouse hepatocytes, renal tubular cells and neuronal tissues, with negligible expression in mature erythrocytes. The protein mediates the oxidation of pyridoxamine-5'-phosphate to pyridoxal-5'-phosphate, with conserved structural elements differentiating it from other flavin-dependent oxidases.
