Mouse protocadherin alpha 1 (PCDHAA1) is a transmembrane adhesion protein belonging to the cadherin superfamily. It contains extracellular cadherin repeats, a single transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain involved in molecular interactions. This protein is mainly distributed in nervous tissue and localizes to the plasma membrane of neuronal cells. It exhibits distinct extracellular domain organization and shows high structural conservation in neural cell populations, differing from other classical cadherins and protocadherin subtypes.
