Target Information
Mouse protein tyrosine kinase 2 beta (PTK2B) is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase of the focal adhesion kinase family, a core mediator of cell adhesion and stress-responsive signaling. It features a conserved N-terminal FERM domain for membrane and protein binding, a central catalytic kinase domain critical for substrate phosphorylation, and a C-terminal focal adhesion targeting motif. It localizes predominantly to the cytoplasm and focal adhesion sites of mouse fibroblasts, neuronal cells and immune cells, with negligible expression in terminally differentiated erythrocytes. The protein mediates signal transduction cascades via tyrosine phosphorylation, with conserved structural motifs differentiating it from PTK2 and other non-receptor kinases.
