Target Information
Mouse proteasome subunit beta type-9 (PSMB9), also termed LMP2, is a 205-residue catalytic component of the immunoproteasome. Expressed constitutively in lymphoid organs and inducible in most somatic tissues by interferon-γ, the subunit replaces standard β1 to form the 20S core particle, contributing a chymotrypsin-like active site harbored within an N-terminal threonine residue. The mature polypeptide assembles into heptameric rings flanking two copies of the 19S regulatory cap, generating a 150 kDa barrel that degrades ubiquitinated substrates. Antibodies raised against the full-length mouse PSMB9 detect native and incorporated forms with negligible cross-reactivity to standard β1 or other β subunits, enabling selective immunoblot and immunohistochemical visualization in tissue homogenates and sections.
