Target Information
Mouse prolylcarboxypeptidase (PRCP) is a lysosomal and secreted serine carboxypeptidase of the M28 metallopeptidase family. It features a conserved N-terminal signal peptide, a zinc-binding catalytic domain with His-Glu-Xaa-Xaa-His motifs, and a C-terminal regulatory region critical for structural integrity and substrate specificity. It localizes to mouse lysosomes, extracellular matrices and plasma, with tissue-specific expression in kidney, liver and brain, with negligible levels in skeletal muscle and adipose tissues. The protein mediates C-terminal proline residue cleavage and peptide processing, with conserved motifs for substrate recognition and catalytic activation. Mouse PRCP shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct substrate selectivity differentiating it from carboxypeptidase A and B.
