Target Information
Mouse Platelet-Activating Factor Acetylhydrolase IB3 (PAFAH1B3) is a catalytic subunit of the platelet-activating factor (PAF) acetylhydrolase complex. It specifically hydrolyzes the sn-2 acetyl group of PAF, converting this potent pro-inflammatory lipid mediator into biologically inactive products. PAFAH1B3 is widely expressed in brain, lung, and immune tissues, where it limits PAF-induced vasodilation, edema, and leukocyte activation. The enzyme's activity supports membrane remodeling and protects against oxidative lipid damage. Antibodies to PAFAH1B3 enable precise localization and functional studies of PAF catabolism in mouse models.
