Mouse nucleoporin 85 (NUP85) is a core nuclear pore complex protein encoded by the Nup85 gene in Mus musculus, mapped to chromosome 2. It belongs to the nucleoporin family, featuring conserved phenylalanine-glycine repeats and protein-protein interaction domains critical for complex assembly. It localizes exclusively to the nuclear envelope, with ubiquitous expression in mouse nucleated cells and consistent levels across embryonic and adult tissues. The protein constitutes a structural component of the nuclear pore central channel, with conserved motifs for binding to other nucleoporins. Mouse NUP85 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct interaction partners differentiating it from NUP62, NUP93 and other nucleoporin family members.
