Target Information

Mouse nucleobindin 1 (NUCB1) is a 54-kDa calcium-binding protein ubiquitously expressed in murine tissues, with elevated levels in brain, pancreas, and adrenal gland. It localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum, nucleus, and extracellular space, interacting with calcium ions and diverse ligands to regulate calcium homeostasis, secretion, and cell signaling. Critical for murine metabolic regulation, neuronal function, and stress responses, it modulates insulin secretion and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis activity. Dysregulated expression associates with metabolic syndrome, neurodegenerative disorders, and inflammatory responses in mouse models. As a key mediator of calcium-dependent signaling and tissue homeostasis, mouse NUCB1 is a critical target for studying metabolic and neuronal pathobiology, and developing therapeutics for related disorders.
