Mouse non metastatic cells 5 (NME5) is a cytoplasmic nucleoside diphosphate kinase of the NME family. It features conserved catalytic domains, nucleotide-binding pockets and dimerization motifs critical for structural integrity. It localizes to cell cytoplasm, with tissue-specific expression in mouse brain, testis and kidney, with minimal levels in skeletal muscle and liver. The protein mediates nucleoside phosphate metabolism, with conserved motifs for substrate interaction. Mouse NME5 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct specificity differentiating it from NME1 and NME2.
