Target Information
Mouse NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) is a 65-kDa transmembrane enzyme predominantly expressed in mouse vascular endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and epithelial tissues (lung, kidney, liver). It catalyzes reactive oxygen species (ROS) production-primarily hydrogen peroxide-using NADPH as an electron donor. Unlike other NOX isoforms, it functions constitutively, regulating physiological processes including cell differentiation, angiogenesis, and tissue repair. ROS generated by NOX4 also modulates redox signaling and gene expression. Dysregulated activity links to oxidative stress-related pathologies (fibrosis, cardiovascular diseases, chronic inflammation) in mice. As a tissue-specific ROS producer and redox signaling mediator, mouse NOX4 is a critical target for studying oxidative biology, fibrotic disorders, and cardiovascular pathologies.
