Target Information
Mouse myosin light chain 3 (MLC3) is a cytoplasmic contractile protein encoded by the Myl3 gene in Mus musculus, mapped to chromosome 11. It belongs to the EF-hand calcium-binding protein family, featuring conserved EF-hand motifs, a myosin heavy chain-binding domain and a regulatory region critical for contractile activity. It localizes to sarcomeres of cardiac and slow skeletal muscle, with tissue-specific expression restricted to ventricular myocardium and slow-twitch muscle fibers. The protein modulates myosin motor function, with conserved motifs for structural integrity and calcium-dependent regulation. Mouse MLC3 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue distribution differentiating it from MLC1 and MLC2 isoforms.
