Mouse MEF2A is a nuclear transcription factor equipped with conserved DNA-binding and cofactor-interacting domains that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It accumulates prominently in muscle and neuronal cell populations and assembles into chromatin regulatory complexes within cell nuclei. Its multi-domain transcriptional architecture and lineage-biased distribution differentiate it from secreted signaling cytokines, transmembrane cell surface receptors and cytoplasmic scaffold adaptors with simplified single-domain assemblies evenly expressed across most non-specialized somatic cell groups.
