Target Information
Mouse monoamine oxidase B (MAOB) is a mitochondrial outer membrane-bound flavoenzyme of the monoamine oxidase family. It features a conserved N-terminal membrane-anchoring domain, a central FAD-binding region, and a C-terminal substrate-recognition pocket critical for structural integrity and catalytic activity. It localizes to the mitochondria of mouse brain astrocytes, platelets and liver cells, with negligible levels in neurons and skeletal muscle tissues. The protein mediates oxidative deamination of biogenic amines, with conserved motifs for flavin adenine dinucleotide ligation and substrate binding. Mouse MAOB shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct substrate specificity differentiating it from MAOA.
