Target Information

Mouse Melanoma Inhibitory Activity Protein 1 (MIA1) is a secreted 11 kDa SH3-domain protein that modulates extracellular matrix interactions during development and tissue remodeling. Expressed in melanocytes, chondrocytes, and the nervous system, MIA1 binds fibronectin and laminin, inhibiting cell adhesion and promoting migration. It is up-regulated in melanocyte differentiation and serves as a marker of melanocytic lineage. As a key regulator of cell-matrix dynamics, MIA1 is an important target for studies of melanocyte biology, cartilage development, and tumor progression.
