Target Information

Mouse low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) is an 83-kDa transmembrane glycoprotein primarily expressed in mouse liver, with detectable levels in adrenal glands and macrophages. It mediates endocytosis of LDL-cholesterol, regulating plasma cholesterol homeostasis by facilitating cellular cholesterol uptake. It binds LDL particles via its extracellular ligand-binding domain, initiating receptor-mediated internalization and cholesterol delivery to cells. Beyond lipid metabolism, it contributes to lipid transport in extrahepatic tissues. As a key regulator of cholesterol homeostasis, mouse LDLR is a critical target for studying hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, and lipid-related metabolic disorders.
