Target Information

Mouse legumain (LGMN) is a 46-kDa cysteine protease predominantly expressed in murine lysosomes, with elevated levels in immune cells (macrophages, dendritic cells) and tumor tissues. It functions as an asparaginyl endopeptidase, mediating protein degradation, antigen processing for MHC class II presentation, and extracellular matrix remodeling. Critical for murine immune response regulation, tissue repair, and embryonic development, it also promotes tumor invasion and metastasis in cancer models. Dysregulated activity associates with inflammatory diseases, neurodegeneration, and malignant progression. As a key mediator of proteolytic signaling and immune modulation, mouse LGMN is a critical target for studying immunobiology, cancer pathobiology, and protease-targeted therapeutics.
