Target Information

Mouse Kidney Injury Molecule 1 (KIM-1) is a type I transmembrane protein that is highly expressed in the kidneys, particularly in response to acute kidney injury. It is involved in the repair and regeneration of renal tubular epithelial cells following damage. KIM-1 also plays a role in the internalization and degradation of debris from damaged cells, promoting tissue repair. In mice, this molecule is a useful biomarker for detecting renal injury and monitoring the progression of kidney diseases.
