Target Information
Mouse keratin 25 (KRT25) is a type I intermediate filament protein of the keratin superfamily, a structural component of epithelial cytoskeletons. It features a conserved central α-helical rod domain, N-terminal head and C-terminal tail domains, and cysteine-rich motifs critical for filament assembly and structural stability. It localizes to the cytoplasm of mouse hair follicle inner root sheath cells, with negligible levels in epidermal and other epithelial tissues. The protein mediates cytoskeletal integrity maintenance and hair follicle morphogenesis, with conserved motifs for heterodimerization with type II keratins. Mouse KRT25 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue specificity differentiating it from KRT1 and KRT10.
