Target Information
Mouse interleukin-1 delta (IL-1δ, IL-36β) is a 183-residue cytosine-rich pro-inflammatory cytokine of the IL-1 family. After removal of a 3-residue N-terminal methionine, the 18 kDa mature polypeptide exposes an N-terminal Phe required for receptor binding. The protein adopts a β-trefoil fold stabilized by three disulfide bonds and lacks a classical signal peptide, being released via non-classical secretion. Constitutively expressed in skin, lung and neutrophils, IL-1δ localizes to cytosol and extracellular space after proteolytic activation. Antibodies raised against the mature N-terminal epitope detect native, recombinant and truncated forms with negligible cross-reactivity to IL-1α, IL-1β or IL-36Ra, enabling selective immunoblot and immunohistochemical detection in mouse tissue homogenates and culture supernatants.
