Specifications
Target Information
Mouse integrin β5 is an 803-residue type I transmembrane glycoprotein that partners exclusively with αV to form the αVβ5 heterodimer. Its extracellular region contains a plexin-semaphorin-integrin (PSI) domain, four epidermal-growth-factor-like repeats, a cysteine-rich stalk, and an N-terminal β-propeller that coordinates ligand-bound αV. The cytoplasmic tail carries two NPXY motifs recruiting talin and kindlin, enabling linkage to the actin cytoskeleton. Constitutively expressed on fibroblasts, alveolar epithelium, retinal pigment epithelium, and dendritic cells, integrin β5 localizes to focal adhesions and clathrin-coated pits. Antibodies targeting the extracellular segment of mouse integrin β5 bind native epitopes with negligible cross-reactivity to β1, β3, or other β subunits, allowing precise detection in tissue sections and cultured cells.
