Target Information
Mouse HDAC4 is an 1180-residue class IIa deacetylase that cycles between nucleus and cytoplasm in response to phosphorylation. A 22-amino-acid surface helix unique to the murine sequence lies adjacent to the catalytic pocket yet remains accessible when the protein is bound to MEF2 or 14-3-3 partners. Antibodies targeting this epitope quantitatively capture HDAC4 from brain, muscle and cardiac extracts without cross-reacting to HDAC5, HDAC7 or HDAC9, enabling selective detection of the native enzyme in both immunoblot and chromatin immunoprecipitation workflows.
