Mouse HCK is a cytoplasmic non-receptor tyrosine kinase featuring conserved SH2, SH3 and kinase catalytic domains that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It is abundantly expressed in myeloid and lymphoid hematopoietic cell populations and participates in intracellular signal complex assembly. Its multi-domain cytosolic enzymatic structure and blood cell-restricted expression distinguish it from transmembrane receptors, soluble secreted cytokines and chromatin-binding nuclear transcriptional regulators with simplified single-domain assemblies and broad expression in non-hematopoietic somatic tissues.
