Target Information
Mouse Growth Arrest-Specific Protein 6 (GAS6) is a secreted vitamin-K-dependent ligand that activates the TAM-family receptors Axl, Mer and Tyrosine 3. It is constitutively produced by endothelial cells, smooth muscle and macrophages, where it supports cell survival, phagocytosis and platelet aggregation. GAS6 contains an N-terminal gamma-carboxyglutamic acid domain that mediates phospholipid binding, plus tandem EGF-like and globular C-terminal regions responsible for receptor engagement. Its expression rises rapidly during growth arrest, oxidative stress or tissue injury, making it a sensitive marker for vascular remodeling and immune resolution. Antibodies to GAS6 enable precise quantification and localization of this pleiotropic ligand in mouse serum, plasma and tissue sections without cross-reactivity to related proteins .
