Target Information

Mouse Gremlin 1 is a secreted protein involved in various developmental processes and tissue homeostasis. It acts as a potent inhibitor of the Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) signaling pathway by binding to BMPs and preventing their interaction with receptors. Gremlin 1 is essential for embryonic development, particularly in the formation of the mesoderm and the regulation of organogenesis. In adult tissues, it contributes to the maintenance of tissue integrity and the regulation of stem cell niches. Dysregulation of Gremlin 1 has been implicated in fibrosis and cancer progression. It is an important target for studying developmental biology and disease mechanisms in mouse models.
