Target Information
Mouse grancalcin is a calcium-binding protein belonging to the penta-EF-hand protein family, a core regulator of calcium-dependent intracellular signaling and cytoskeletal remodeling. It features five conserved EF-hand motifs critical for Ca²⁺ binding and conformational switching, a hydrophobic N-terminal region, and a C-terminal domain for protein-protein interaction. It localizes predominantly to the cytoplasm and secretory granules of mouse neutrophils, monocytes and macrophages, with negligible expression in non-hematopoietic cell types. The protein mediates calcium-responsive signaling cascades, with conserved structural elements differentiating it from other EF-hand calcium sensors.
