Target Information
Mouse glycoprotein 2 (GP2) is a 537-residue, heavily N- and O-glycosylated type I transmembrane protein that coats the luminal face of pancreatic zymogen granules. Its extracellular mucin-like domain binds to bacterial type 1 fimbriae, while a single transmembrane helix anchors the protein to the granule membrane. GP2 is constitutively expressed in pancreatic acinar cells and released into the intestinal lumen upon exocytosis. Antibodies raised against the extracellular mucin domain detect native GP2 with negligible cross-reactivity to related mucins, enabling selective immunoblot and immunohistochemical visualization in mouse pancreatic homogenates and tissue sections.
