Target Information
Mouse glutathione peroxidase 3, plasma (GPX3) is a secreted selenoprotein encoded by the Gpx3 gene in Mus musculus, mapped to chromosome 5. It belongs to the glutathione peroxidase family, featuring a conserved selenocysteine active site and glutathione-binding domain critical for redox activity. It localizes primarily to extracellular fluid and plasma, synthesized in mouse kidney and liver before systemic secretion, with wide distribution in circulation and interstitial fluid. The protein harbors a signal peptide for classical secretion and conserved structural motifs for substrate binding. Mouse GPX3 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct subcellular localization and substrate affinity differentiating it from intracellular GPX isoforms.
