Target Information
Mouse glucagon is a 29-amino acid peptide hormone produced by the alpha cells of the pancreatic islets. It plays a critical role in regulating glucose homeostasis by promoting glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis in the liver, thereby increasing blood glucose levels. Glucagon acts through the glucagon receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor, which activates adenylate cyclase and increases intracellular cAMP levels. This hormone is essential for maintaining energy balance and counteracting the effects of insulin.
