Target Information

Mouse GATA-binding protein 1 (GATA1) is a 413-residue nuclear transcription factor containing dual zinc-finger domains (Cys-X2-Cys-X17-Cys-X2-Cys) that recognize the consensus motif (A/T)GATA(A/G) in promoter and enhancer regions of erythroid and megakaryocyte-specific genes. The N-terminal finger mediates DNA tethering while the C-terminal finger provides sequence specificity and recruits Friend of GATA cofactors. Expressed exclusively in hematopoietic lineages, GATA1 localizes to euchromatin during differentiation. Antibodies raised against full-length or zinc-finger peptides detect native, phosphorylated and acetylated isoforms with negligible cross-reactivity to GATA2-6, enabling precise immunoblot and immunohistochemical analysis in mouse hematopoietic tissues and cultured erythroid precursors.
