Specifications
Target Information
Mouse G-elongation factor, mitochondrial 1 (GFMT1) is a mitochondrial matrix protein that belongs to the translational GTPase family, a core regulator of mitochondrial protein synthesis. It features a conserved GTP-binding domain critical for nucleotide hydrolysis, an N-terminal mitochondrial targeting sequence for subcellular import, and a C-terminal domain for ribosome and tRNA interaction. It localizes exclusively to the mitochondrial matrix of mouse somatic and germ cells, with negligible expression in cytosolic compartments. The protein mediates peptide chain elongation during mitochondrial translation, with conserved structural motifs differentiating it from cytosolic elongation factors.
