Mouse FRS2 is a cytoplasmic membrane-anchored adaptor with conserved phosphotyrosine binding and tyrosine phosphorylation domains that maintain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It concentrates at plasma membrane inner surfaces of fibroblast, epithelial and embryonic progenitor cell populations. Its growth factor signal-transducing structure and broadly distributed tissue expression differentiate it from secreted extracellular ligands, lysosomal enzymes and intranuclear transcriptional regulators with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
