Target Information

Mouse Mitochondrial Ferritin (FtMt) is an iron-storage protein located in the mitochondrial matrix. It sequesters free iron, protecting mitochondria from oxidative damage and ensuring proper iron homeostasis for respiratory-chain enzymes. FtMt is expressed at high levels in testis and brain, where it modulates mitochondrial redox balance and energy metabolism. As an organelle-specific ferritin, it is a key target for studying iron-associated mitochondrial stress and related disorders.
