Target Information

Mouse fatty acid-binding protein 1 (FABP1, L-FABP) is a 14 kDa cytosolic chaperone whose β-barrel calyx binds long-chain fatty acids and acyl-CoAs in hepatocytes and enterocytes. A solvent-exposed CD-turn (aa 38-46) carries a liver-specific QSK triplet absent from other FABP isoforms, creating a conformational epitope preserved after fixation. Antibodies targeting this turn trace native FABP1 in hepatic cytoplasm, intestinal villi, and renal proximal tubules, yielding crisp diffuse staining and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to FABP4 or FABP5.
