Target Information

Mouse Cytokeratin 1 is a type II intermediate filament protein that forms robust heteropolymers with type I cytokeratins to provide mechanical strength and structural integrity to stratified epithelia. It is prominently expressed in the epidermis, oral mucosa, and other keratinized tissues, where it contributes to barrier function and resistance to mechanical stress. Cytokeratin 1 is an established marker of terminal differentiation in suprabasal epithelial layers. As a key architectural element of the epithelial cytoskeleton, it is a valuable target for studying keratinocyte biology and epithelial integrity.
