Target Information

Mouse cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A (CDKN2A), also known as p16INK4a, is a key regulator of the cell cycle. It inhibits the activity of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), particularly CDK4 and CDK6, thereby preventing the progression of the cell cycle from G1 to S phase. CDKN2A is expressed in various tissues and plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular homeostasis by controlling cell proliferation and preventing uncontrolled cell growth. Its expression is often upregulated in response to oncogenic signals, making it an important tumor suppressor.
