Target Information
Mouse connexin 37 (CX37) is a transmembrane channel-forming protein of the connexin superfamily, a core component of gap junctions. It features four conserved transmembrane domains, two extracellular loops with cysteine-rich motifs, and cytoplasmic N- and C-terminal tails critical for structural assembly and channel gating. It localizes to gap junction plaques of mouse vascular endothelial cells, ovarian granulosa cells and leukocytes, with negligible levels in cardiac and skeletal muscle tissues. The protein mediates intercellular small-molecule transport and signal communication, with conserved motifs for connexon oligomerization. Mouse CX37 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct channel permeability differentiating it from CX40 and CX43.
