Target Information

Mouse cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) is a 116-aa neuropeptide processed from pro-CART in hypothalamic and reward-related neurons. It targets multiple G-protein-coupled receptors and voltage-gated Ca²⁺ channels, modulating appetite, stress and reward circuits. Its N-terminal loop presents a unique, species-restricted epitope ideal for antibody generation; anti-CART immunoreagents detect intact peptide and cleaved fragments in brain tissue, CSF and cultured neurons without cross-reacting with related neuropeptides, providing a precise read-out of anorexigenic signaling .
